Who’s Zoomin’ Who?

Menfolk out there, here’s a question for you. When dating, how do you feel if a woman asks you out?

A. A girl with the confidence and forthrightness to make the first move is attractive

B. Nothing worse than getting mixed signals from a girl. Knowing 100% that a girl is into you is heaven sent

C. Relieved that she had made the first move

D. Just be as attractive as the person you’re trying go get with.

Who’s Zoom’in Who?

Scouring through dating forums, some version of the first four answers is what I found guys saying. So let’s take a look.

The first one is saying that confidence and directness is a turn-on. That’s pretty neat when you think about how so many women were brought up to think that being coy and acting aloof and even playing “hard to get” was where it was at.  The female universe may have some readjusting to do.

The second response I can speak about from personal experience. So many times when I liked someone and if my guard was down, I would be all excited to see him and talk to him, maybe even forget to serve an order to a table when I was waitressing because I was too busy talking to ‘him’ in the kitchen! Then when I realized what I was doing, I’d clam up, act disinterested, maybe even be snotty, and – Jesus! – on some occasions I’d go so far as to be sarcastic. The stupid things we do! The poor man must’ve been so confused.

The third response says it’s scary to jump into the water when you don’t know how deep it is! There might be rocks close to the surface that you could bang your head on. It’s a lot easier having her jump first, right? Maybe, personality-wise, she’s just more of a risk-taker – what’s wrong with that?

As for the last one,  “ask me out if you’re a 7 like I am” – well, fair enough. I suppose that consciously or not, we rate our own and each other’s looks to see how we line up. Whether or not we are in or “out of their league.”

So guys, what do you think?

Is it time us women followed the lyrics of that famous Aretha Franklin song …. Who’s Zoomin’ Who?

You walked in on the sly
Scopin’ for love
In the crowd, I caught your eye
You can’t hide your stuff

 You came to catch
You thought I’d be naive and tame
You met your match
I beat you at your own game

Who’s zoomin’ who, take another look, tell me baby
Who’s zoomin who…oh
Who’s zoomin’ who, now the fish jumped off the hook
Didn’t I baby…Who’s zoomin’ who (repeat)

Guess you believed the world
Played by your rules
Here stands an experienced girl
Nobody’s fool…

Don’t speculate
you thought you had me covered, but
I’ve got your bait
You’re bound to be my lover…oh

 You think you’re smooth
That you can pick and choose
When the time is right…

But, just look behind, you’ll be surprised to find
I’m gonna make you mine tonight…oh
